MORE POWERFUL SIMULATIONS & CLOUD COMPUTING
K-EPSILON is able to run more simulations concurrently, vastly improving turnaround time for design explorations. K-EPSILON is also able to run much more refined simulations than one could with for example a 1.8 teraflop machine. "We're currently running about three times the size of the model we were previously running on clusters," said Yann Roux. "Our option was to use the powerfull of C.R.I.H.A.N. (Centre de Ressource en Informatique de Haute Normandie) and PACA Grid (Cloud Computing infrastructure which consists of services delivered through common center located in the INRIA.) to go for CFD in a really big and easy way."
What is CFD?
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)is one of the branches of fluid mechanics that uses numerical methods and algorithms to solve and analyze problems that involve fluid flows.
To simulate the flow we use the last computers on the market and we are able to realize unsteady complex flow computation on a mesh with more than 20 millions of cells.
